Valdosta - (WALB) - A former South Georgia Judge is being indicted today.

Friday morning, federal Agents picked up Brooks Blitch III, the former Chief Judge of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit.

They say there are almost a dozen charges, including fraud, conspiracy and extortion,  contained in a 78-page indictment.

Also indicted were Berrien Sutton, a former juvenile and state court judge in Clinch County, and his wife, Lisa Sutton.

Clinch Co. attorney George Bessenette, and Hayward Collier were indicted as well.

Blitch is the center of a federal probe into judicial corruption in the Alapaha Judicial Circuit.

Blitch was forced to resign last month to avoid misconduct charges by the Judicial Qualification Commission.

These will be the first criminal charges he will face.

WALB News 10's Alicia Eakin will be live from the courthouse tonight at 5:00 and 6:00 PM.
