ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Four candidates have qualified for the Georgia's State Senate District 13 Special Primary Election.
The special election was prompted when incumbent State Senator Joe Carter decided to qualify for a judgeship leaving the seat vacant.
Wednesday was the first day to qualify and four candidates including Horace Hudgins of Ocilla, Wally Roberts of Leesburg, Rusty Simpson of Tifton, Bob Usry of Smithville, and John D. Crosby of Tifton have qualified.
Candidates have until Friday at noon to qualify for the race.
The special primary will be held in Ben Hill, Crisp, Irwin, Lee, Tift, Turner, and Worth Counties and part of Wilcox County August fifth.
