ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty's Assistant District Attorney has been promoted by the voters. Greg Edwards won Dougherty's District Attorney's seat with 73 percent of the vote over defense attorney Ingrid Driskell.

Edwards along with the members of his campaign celebrated election night at the State Theater. Edwards has worked as Dougherty's Assistant D.A. since 1990.

And as the Chief Assistant, he was over the Organized Crime and Gang Task Force. Edwards said he is happy to be able to continue serving Dougherty County.

"I'm very happy to have the opportunity to serve our community. I have always enjoyed public service, and I feel vindicated by voters finding that I do good work. And I am going to continue to try to do good work for our community," said Edwards.

Former District Attorney Ken Hodges decided not to run for re-election after holding office for more than a decade.
