ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany city commissioners plan to roll-back the millage rate by a nominal amount. The value of the tax digest is increasing by a little more than $320,000. The revenue the city would get from that increase is just over $3200.

Instead of holding public hearings to keep the millage rate the same, commissioners will roll it back by two thousandths of a point. "It was a very small increase in the revenue," said Finance Director Kris Newton, "as opposed to having to increase taxes ever so slightly on the net effect, so we've reduced the rate so taxes wouldn't rise because of this."

The rate is now going to 9.157, down from 9.159.
