ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty Countians will soon be able to get some help with prescription drug costs.
The county commission is considering a partnership with the National Association of County Governments that allows county residents to get a discount on prescription drugs.
Any time insurance doesn't cover a prescription, you can use the card. In most cases, you can get 20% off the retail price.
"Simply pick up the card," says Insurance Consultant Kirk Rouse. "It doesn't have to have your name on it, you don't have to do an enrollment. Take it to the pharmacy, run it through the system and you'll get your discount."
The cards can't be used with insurance. But if your insurance doesn't cover prescriptions or a particular drug, you can use it.
The commission still has to give final approval to the contract for the prescription plan.
