One dead in Mitchell plane crash

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Mitchell County man is dead after his plane went down in a field near Pelham Saturday morning.

62-year-old Gifford Flynt died around 10:00 AM Saturday morning after his crop duster crashed in Fred B. Hand's pecan field just off Highway 93.

Investigators believe he was on his way back to the landing strip when we went down. The cause of the crash is still unknown.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating this incident.

Flynt's body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
