ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The role of the military in our community was reinforced Wednesday morning at the annual military appreciation breakfast hosted by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

Community leaders joined Marines from MCLB Albany for the Rise N Shine Breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn where the men and women of the military were recognized for their hard work and dedication to our country, both on and off the battlefield.

"What they do allows us to live like we live, and we are so appreciative for what they do and we just want to let them know," said  Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Interim President Wendy Martin.

"It's just a clear sign of how the community embraces the Base and the close partnership between the community and the Base," said MCLB Commanding Officer Col. Christian. Haliday.

Lance Corporal Juan Escobar Romero was named Marine of the Quarter by the chamber of commerce. Corporal Matro Carraso was selected N-C-O of the quarter.

160 people attended this morning's breakfast which has been held now for more than 50 years.
