ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany teenager wants to make an impact in the world--one foot at a time.

17-year-old Ryann Satterfield hasn't had much time to relax on her summer break. As part of missionary agency Global Outreach, she collected shoes for children in West Virginia. A county there is one of the poorest in the country where many children go without the basics.

Ryann saw the conditions first-hand and wanted to do something about it. She got area churches along with her church members at Byne Memorial involved.

"A lot of the kids there don't have running water or electricity or shoes to wear during the winter so they wear flip-flops in the snow. So we saw that need and decided to meet it," said Satterfield.

In all, Ryann collected 731 pairs of shoes. She'll head out Wednesday morning with the truck load. She previously delivered shoes to Africa as part of a foot-washing mission.

Her parents say the missions are surprising since the teenager admits she's kind of afraid of feet!
