Man in Albany is dead after setting himself on fire

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A lover's quarrel ends tragically when a man in Albany died after setting himself on fire. 36-year-old Tony Shipman died Sunday afternoon at 12:35 PM in the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta.

Shipman was transported there Saturday morning after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Dougherty County Police, EMS and the fire department were called to lot 195 in the Paradise Village Mobile Home Park on Holly Drive.

In front of police, Shipman poured gasoline on the ground, then on himself before then lighting himself on fire. He received burns on more than 90 percent of his body.
