NEWTON, GA (WALB) - Security cameras were rolling inside J & M Liquors when two masked men, one armed with a gun, the other, a machete entered the store just after 7:30 Thursday night.

"It shows possibly two black assailants coming into the store. As they came in the door, from my understanding from witnesses inside the store, which were employees of the liquor store, one of the black males said Get on the floor. Get on the floor," said Newton Police Chief Aubrey Suggs.

The video shows two store employees crouching behind the counter, fearing for their lives. At one point, a clerk has a gun pointed to his head while the robber demands him to open the register.

"They had on disguises. You couldn't hardly see who they were. The shorter person looked they had a machete in their hand. The other assailant, which appeared to be between 6'1 and 6'2, had a nickel plated handgun," said Suggs.

The two suspects, dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts with bandanas covering their faces, worked as a team. One cleaned out the register while the other swiped bottles of Grey Goose Vodka and Hypnotic. The masked bandits were in and out in less than 40 seconds.

Suggs says, "They ran out the store, but we're not sure if they left on foot or left in car. We had Dougherty County PD with their (K-9) dog down sniffing the area trying to locate them. We did get a scent, but it went from the grassy area of the liquor store all the way over to the Dollar General. But the scent was lost there. They could've left on vehicle but we're not sure."

While Chief Suggs says his department will continue to review evidence and hopefully track down these suspects, he cautions they should be considered armed and dangerous.

The employees were not hurt during the robbery.
