ALBANY, GA (WALB) - We know it's July 3rd, but a lot of people are celebrating our country's birthday Thursday. This was the scene at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany just before noon. Workers were setting up food tents, as well as fun jumping houses and a rock wall for the Independence Day Celebration that's going on right now.

Base officials say you can't get much more patriotic than celebrating July 4th with those who serve and protect us. "At what better place is there to celebrate an Independence Day celebration than a military installation and here at MCLB Albany?" asked Public Affairs Officer Colie Young.  "This is the 14th year that we've opened the base up to the public."

The base is now open to the public. If you go now, you can see a K-9 demonstration and the Silver Wings jump team from Ft. Benning. At sunset, fireworks will begin.
