Valdosta - Valdosta State quarterback Tucker Pruitt has patiently waited his turn to lead the Blazer offense.
With Willie Copeland having graduated, finding a new starting quarterback is one of head coach David Dean's biggest tasks this offseason.
Tucker Pruitt is the top candidate coming out of spring practice to lead the offense for the Division II national champions.
The junior from Fitzgerald High completed 15-17 passes in the spring game for one touchdown and came off the bench last season to lead the Blazers to victory against West Georgia.
Tucker Pruitt said "I have been watiing a long time for this opportunity. I am real excited. I am going to try to go out there and be a leader. Keep doing what this team does and that is get victories."
Valdosta State opens the 2008 season on August 23rd against Fort Valley State.
