Albany - The odds are long but Albany's Demetric Bennett still holding out hope his name will be called in the second round of the Thursday's NBA draft.
The former Monroe star coming off a terrific senior season at South Alabama where he led the Jaguars in scoring and to their second NCAA tournament appearance in the last three seasons.
Unfortunately, the NBA draft experts are not projecting Bennett to be selected.
Demetric says one problem for him is teams needing a long range shooter don't have many or any picks tonight.
One of those teams is the Atlanta Hawks who have already said they want Demetric to play for their summer league team next month.
Demetric is excited about that opportunity but knows there is still a chance his draft fortunes could change in the final hours before the draft starts.
Demetric Bennett said "A lot of things get changed around late in the draft. A lot of phone calls have been made. It is a long process. Just going to sit home tonight and watch and hope things come out for the best."
If Bennett signs with the Hawks summer league team, he will play for them in July in Salt Lake City, Utah.
