ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A high-profile downtown Albany project is behind schedule, but work on the historic Bridgehouse should be finished in the next few weeks.
The renovations were originally scheduled to be complete in December, but it is now set to open in August.
The bridgehouse will be home to the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Contractors say they worked hard to maintain the historical integrity of the building, and that's why it took eight months longer than expected to complete.
"Looking into it now, you'll say it was worth the wait because it really looks good," says Kenneth Cribb of Albany Tomorrow.
Exhibits in the Bridgehouse will be installed beginning mid-July.
Rain is expected over the weekend and one major concern right now is falling trees. The moist ground after weeks of dry weather making tree susceptible to toppling over.More >>
