THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -  The Thomasville Exchange Club named Thomas County Sheriff's Investigator Jason Carroll its 2008 Peace Officer of the Year. \

Club members say one example of Carroll's "above and beyond" attitude is his how he helped Chad Griffin.  He's a Thomas County deputy who was seriously injured in a car crash on the job in December.

"To help Chad out with financial burdens that he would have since he's had this injury. We put together a benefit for Chad to help raise as much money as we could to help him out," said Carroll.

Carroll is also in charge of the sex offender registry and handles most of the county's crimes against children.
