ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Rainy weather caused problems on the final day of action in the Albany Amateur Golf Championship, as play would be paused for lightning on two separate occasions Sunday at Grand Island.

Two-time winner Brandon Anthony went into the final round with a commanding eight-shot lead, and his 79 was good enough to beat Deerfield baseball coach Rod Murray and defending champ Mike Cooper by five strokes.

Anthony has won the event three of the past four years.

Dan Rhoads posted a 71 in the seniors division, and came from behind to win by four-shots.

Sherwood Christian senior Kelly Pearce shot a 74 on Sunday, and beat runner-up Debbie DeVane 233 to 237.

Pearce said, "(Saturday), I was really just focused on making the round better, because on the front nine I shot a 45, and on the back I shot a 33. So I really just came out here and said, 'I'll just play the course.'  I hit everything in the fairway, and everything just kind of went in today, for some reason."

Pearce finished runner-up in the Albany Amateur last year.
