TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Former Superior Court Judge Rusty Simpson announced on Saturday that he would like to hold that title once again.
Simpson is vying for the seat in the Tifton Judicial Circuit being vacated by Gary McCorvey.
Back in 2005, Simpson was appointed to finish the expired term of Judge Harvey Davis and served 17 months.
Simpson says he's seen a lack of urgency in processing certain cases.
"There are some organizational problems, some case backlog problems, and things like that which I work to address at that time I started working on those problems. I think I can give us a court that we can trust and respect if I'm given an opportunity to finish what I started," Rusty Simpson, Superior Court Judge Candidate.
The Tifton Judicial Circuit covers Irwin, Turner, Tift and Worth counties.
Senator Joseph Carter who represents District 13 is also running for the position.
