Americus -- Before breaking his ankle late in the season last year, former Georgia Bulldog Leonard Pope was becoming a force to be reckoned with for the Arizona Cardinals.
The 6'8" inch tight end had 23 catches for 238 yards and five touchdowns before suffering the injury in week thirteen against the Seahawks.
It's the first time he's had to miss action due to a major injury, but if Pope's performance is his charity basketball tournament in Americus last week is any indication, his return to the NFL will be a slam dunk.
Pope says, "I just took it as a stepping stone, to step over, and get right. I did it, and I'm just looking forward to the season."
The Cardinals play their first preseason game August 1st against Charles Grant and the Saints.
