Albany - Rising 9th graders at Dougherty High School are getting help bridging the gap between middle and high school.

Nearly 100 rising freshmen are taking part in camp Summer Bridge at Albany Tech this week.

Some students are in horticulture classes. Others are involved in culinary arts and automotive technology.

"To be able to better have a nurturing environment so when they come to high school they make that transition from middle school and they'll already have some people on staff that they'll be comfortable with and be able to have that support system to help them be able to move forward," said Linda Loving.

Camp Summer Bridge is paid for with grant money.
