Albany's EDC independence is underway

June 18, 2008

Albany -- Albany's Economic Development Commission is one step closer to independence. The EDC is now looking for a president.

The City of Albany and Dougherty County decided to separate the EDC and the chamber so that they can focus primarily on bringing economic development to the area.

The EDC is currently filing the necessary paperwork and hired help to find a president.

"One of the first steps of that process is to find a search firm to help us with that process. The decision was made today to hire Tim Chason of the Chason Group to help us with that search. He will begin working with us very shortly," said EDC Interim President, Robert McKinney.

The EDC hopes to be independent by mid-July.
