Blitch leaves office early

June 16, 2008

Homerville - The Chief Judge of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit gave up his duties 15-days early.

Judge Brooks Blitch served on the bench in Clinch County for nearly three decades.  But he is no longer a judge.

He sent a letter to Governor Sonny Perdue Friday that said he had finished all his judicial duties and his last day would be June 15th.

Back in April, Blitch announced he would resign effective at the end of June.

He faced twelve misconduct violations from the Judicial Qualifications Commission and he is at the center of a federal investigation.

The Governor hopes to pick a replacement from three finalists by the end of the month.
