Auction to help homeless pets

June 14, 2008

Dawson--A special auction was held on Saturday in Terrell County to make sure homeless animals get all the care they need.

The Bank of Terrell graciously donated all of it's old furnishings to be auctioned in hopes of raising money for the Humane Society of Terrell County.

The funds will go to pay for surgeries, shots, and to get animals spayed and neutered.

"As southwest Georgia's only no kill organization, we're a group of foster homes and we don't have a shelter so everything that we raise goes directly towards our pets," said Lucie Beeley, Humane Society of Terrell County.

Professional auctioneers J. Durham and Associates provided their service free of charge.

Organizers expect to raise about $4,500.
