Albany -- The Mayor of Albany recognized the community efforts of one public housing community. Hudson Malone Towers was awarded the Mayor's Excellence in Public Housing Award Saturday.

They were honored for the pride and commitment that those who live there have shown in keeping the development clean and safe. Mayor Willie Adams started this award two years ago.

"As I travel around the country and I observe the shape of public housing in other cities: Chicago, Detroit and other places, I come back to Albany and see what fine shape our public housing is in. And that takes a lot of effort. It takes pride," said Adams.

Hudson Malone Towers was among five other finalists who competed for the award.
