Moultrie -- We have new information on a pot bust in Colquitt County. After a month-long investigation, law enforcers say they broke-up a distribution ring that smuggled marijuana into south Georgia from Texas.
Late Wednesday night, law enforcers from several organizations raided this home on Sardis Church Road in Colquitt County. 33-year-old Mario Rosales and 26-year-old Katrina Shaniel Rosales live at the home and were arrested.
Three Texas men, 23-year-old Mark Caballero, 30-year-old Vincent Pena and 35-year-old Daniel Sosa were also arrested.
Agents seized about 200 pounds of "high-grade" marijuana with a street value of $300,000. They also confiscated three automobiles and almost $17,000 in cash.
Colquitt County Sheriff Al Whittington said, "Hopefully this will slow the trafficking down in Moultrie and Colquitt county, and not only here but the surrounding areas for quite some time. Hopefully it will slow them down for several months to come."
Moultrie and Colquitt County drug agents also made another drug bust. They charged 33-year-old Gary Lewis with possession and trafficking cocaine.
Agents stopped Lewis near the Country Hearth Inn on 1st Avenue in Moultrie where Lewis was staying. They found more than 360 grams of powder and crack cocaine in his room. They also seized nearly $6,000 in cash.
