Albany Tomorrow chooses an Atlanta Construction Company to build the River Center. The Holder Construction Company was awarded the contract to manage the 16 and a half million dollar River Center project.
The Holder Company has handled major projects for Walt Disney, Coca Cola, and Georgia Power. A.T.I. President Thomas Chatmon said Holder's history of adapting to difficult construction projects was the main reason for awarding them the contract.
A.T.I. President Thomas Chatmon, Jr. said "The agreement we are working out with Holder calls for them to go to construction September 20th. To reach substantial completion by December 19, 2003. And for a grand opening in May 2004."
The River Center will display the eco-systems of the Flint River Watershed. It will be located at Flint Avenue and Pine Street, along the Flint River.
