Albany businessman enters guilty plea to cocaine charges
June 10, 2008
Albany- An Albany businessman pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to drug trafficking.
Andy Barfield entered the plea at the Albany Federal Courthouse. He was arrested in January in Columbus when he tried to purchase 500 grams of powder cocaine from an undercover drug agent.
WALB News Ten has learned Barfield met with that undercover agent several times in Albany and told the agent he was capable of bribing Albany public officials and law enforcement for protection for his illegal activities and indicated he'd done so in the past.
During the bust agents seized 18 thousand dollars from Barfield's car, under the agreement that money's been forfeited to the government.
Barfield could face a maximum of 40 years without parole when he's sentenced.
