Albany -- The Albany State football team held its sixth annual fundraiser golf tournament at Flint River Golf Course Saturday.
The Rams hold the tournament every summer to help with expenditures during the football season.
ASU head coach Mike White says the event has grown every year, and the consistent support helps keep the Rams program strong.
"A lot of these golfers that are out here, we know them well," says White. "They follow us, and keep up with recruiting, to the quarterback club, and all the sponsors that we have. It's just a good outing to have and give back on a good hot Saturday."
White says all the support from the community pays big dividends.
"This is a great help to us each year," says White. "Right now, the economy is tough. Bucks are tough to come by, so the golf tournament helps us out tremendously."
The Albany State football team opens its season at home August 30th against Shaw University.
