Albany-  In addition to Valdosta, Albany's airport director says they, too, negotiate with ASA and Delta to stay competitive.

In fact, Southwest Regional Airport director Yvette Aehle says they closely watch fares in Valdosta, Tallahassee, and Columbus and when fares drop in those cities, she's on the phone to Delta to negotiate a better price, but she's worried those negotiations could soon end.

"You can negotiate so far but again if your profit margin is not there then they're not going to be as easy to negotiate. I think that in the future that's going to be a thing of the past too," said Aehle.

Aehle says too often the price of the ticket depends on availability and the destination.
