Albany - Another restaurant in downtown Albany bites the dust, but it isn't closing. Flint River café just wasn't successful as a restaurant in downtown. The owners, Ty and Donna Miller, handed over the keys to building owner Peter Studl Monday, but Studl says he's not giving up.
This week, he's given away food to customers while working on a new menu. He wants to bring the restaurant closer back to the original Hubbles and says he won't give up on the location becoming a success. "This was a successful place from 1927 until the 80s when the original Hubbles closed," said Studl. "There are many restaurants that go through reincarnation after reincarnation and finally something hits that just works."
Studl reopened Hubble's in 2005. It closed in 2006, and Flint River café has only been in business since January. The restaurant will be closed next week while the menu is revamped, but will be open for lunch on weekdays starting June 16th.
