Albany-  You might get free gas if you give the gift of life.

The Red Cross Blood Donor Center's incentive for June is two $750.00 Citgo gas cards. From now through June 30th, anyone who donates blood will be registered in a drawing for the two gas cards. With gas near four dollars a gallon, the Red Cross hopes the incentive will bring in more donors while their need is greatest.

"We're hoping that maybe by giving them a little bit of the gas incentive and get the word out that it will encourage those people this year that can't go far off will come in and take some time to donate some blood," said Kathy Dallas, Sr. District Manager.

The Albany Chamber of Commerce is also promoting $20.00 free gas cards if you complete a detailed assessment at Albany Technical College that will help the city be certified as a Work Ready community.
