Albany -- A candidate for Dougherty County Sheriff opens an East Albany campaign headquarters to emphasize his commitment to the people in East Albany.

Current Sheriff Jamil Saba endorsed Captain Kevin Sproul, as Sproul opened a campaign office at 1717 East Ogelthorpe Boulevard. Sproul has worked for the sheriff's office for 26 years.

He said he wants to show he will have an open door for all people in Dougherty County. Sproul said "I also just want people in East Albany to know that the Sheriff that is going to serve them for the next four years is going to be for all the people, both sides of the river."

Sproul is opposed in the Democratic Primary election by Albany Police Investigators James Williams and Benita Childs. That primary is July 15th.
