Lee County-- A Lee County high school student was killed and two of his friends were seriously injured after an afternoon wreck.
It happened on Forrester Parkway near Northhampton Road after 5:00 Monday afternoon.
Georgia State Patrol says a Chevrolet pickup with three teenagers inside attempted to make a U-turn from the shoulder when they were broadsided on the driver's side by a United Rentals truck.
Both vehicles ended up in the embankment on Forrester Parkway.
16-year-old Cole Lentz was killed in the wreck. His passengers, 15 -year-old Michael Smith and 16-year-old Garrett Hart were rushed to Phoebe.
Smith was listed in critical condition and Hart was listed in fair condition of as of Tuesday morning.
The driver of the United Rentals truck, 62-year-old Raymond Earl Winborne, was not injured.
The crash victims were with a group of other teenagers spending the day swimming in the creek Monday. Troopers say the teens were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck.
