Thomasville-- A Thomas County bus driver who accidentally left a little girl asleep on the bus won't be driving a bus for the system anymore. Two weeks ago, six-year-old Autumn Tew fell asleep on her way to school.
When the bus driver took the bus back to the shop, he got off without checking the bus. After an investigation into the incident, the superintendent said he failed to do his job. "We have instigated some additional policies that says the bus garage will notify the school where the child is from if this were to happen again and the administrator and the bus garage representative will be contacting the parent immediately," said Quigg.
Two other bus drivers found the girl about 15 minutes later. The driver involved in the incident no longer works for the Thomas County School System.
