Valdosta - Police in Valdosta are now questioning three men they believe are responsible for a home invasion and extortion plot Monday morning.
Police were called to the Camelot Apartments off Northside Drive around 7:30 AM
They believe the three men forced their way into the apartment where 23 year-old Jason Pere and 22 year-old Laura Mason were staying.
One of the men held Pere at the apartment while the other bound Mason with duct tape, put her in a car, and drove her to a bank.
"It appears the two individuals were trying to extort a large amount of money out of one of the individuals while holding some of his friends ransom," says Commander Eugene Bell of the Valdosta Police Department.
Police don't know why, but say one of the robbers let Mason go. She flagged down a car and called police.
Pere was found uninjured.
Police say the men face charges for kidnapping, extortion and attempted robbery.
