Tucker - Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference commissioner Dr. William Lide has been fired.
The conference's Council of Presidents announced Lide's dismissal on Monday.
The conference finally admitted that Dr. Lide was suspended with pay on April 15th and his firing became official on May 31st.
Council president Dr. Benjamin Payton says Doctor Lide was fired after an audit performed by the conference and an external review of the league's operations.
A press release from the SIAC says the audit showed a mismanagement of the conference's finances and that Doctor Lide did not notify the conference presidents of the SIAC's financial troubles.
The SIAC also says that Doctor Lide mishandled information and resources from the NCAA.
Dr. Lide was named SIAC commissioner in 2003.
George Mategakis has been named interim commissioner.
The Council of Presidents executive committee will meet over the next few weeks to establish the search process for a new commissioner.
