Berrien County -- Atkinson and Berrien County deputies are investigating a drowning in the Alapaha River.

Saturday morning authorities were called out to a camp site off Georgia Highway 135 at the Berrien and Atkinson county line.

That's where family and friends found 44-year-old Ricky Reece in the water. The group had been camping since yesterday and were swimming in the river throughout the night.

Reece's body will undergo an autopsy. Right now, authorities are treating this as a crime investigation.

No charges have been filed.
