Valdosta - Valdosta State University is one step closer to appointing a new president.

They announced their top three presidential candidates.

One will replace President Ron Zaccari, who announced his retirement last year.

Those candidates are Dr. Elizabeth Stroble, the Senior Vice President at the University of Akron in Ohio. 

Dr. Patrick Schloss, President of Northern State University in South Dakota..

And Dr. Thomas Keon, the dean of the college of business administration at the University of Central Florida.

The Board of Regents hopes to make the decision next month.
