Valdosta - This business may be small but it's been given one of Valdosta's biggest honors.

Carson McLane Funeral Home was named the 2008 Small Business of the year by the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce.

Companies were judged on their employee growth, staying power and community involvement.

Carson McClane has been growing for 70 years.

"Over the years, just as Valdosta and the surrounding communities have grown, our business has grown both in the families we serve each year and the employees that we have to help us serve those families," says Britt McLane, President of Carson McLane.

The Chamber also presented the company with $2000 worth of prizes.
