Valdosta's title dreams end in game three loss to Walton

Valdosta -  Walton High jumped out to big lead and the Raiders held on for 10-4 win over Valdosta High in the third and final game of their AAAAA semifinal series.

Walton advances to play at Brookwood High in the best two of three state championship series that begins on Friday.

The Raiders got on the scoreboard in the third inninig when Alex Sherrod drew a bases loaded walk to score the first run.

Spencer Kieboom followed with a single to center that scored one run but Cory Reed was tagged out at the plate.

The Raiders added three more runs in the fifth with Sherrod driving in two more runs with his second hit of the game.

Valdosta scored four runs in the top of the sixth, but the Raiders answered with three runs in their final trip to the plate.

"Our guys played hard to the very end, and I'm proud of them," said Wildcats head coach Bart Shuman. "We ran into a team with a couple more arms, that pitched pretty good against us."

Valdosta High finishes the season 28-7.
