Rested Knights ready for powerful Trojans

May 27, 2008

Albany - The Deerfield-Windsor Knights will face the one and only team that has beaten them this season for the AAA state championship this weekend.

The Knights opponent is Tattnall Square.

The Trojans are 35-2 this season and beat Deerfield-Windsor 11-1 back in late March.

Knights coach Rod Murray knows the Trojans are a powerful team but he believes Tattnall will see a different Deerfield-Windsor team in the finals.

The Knights regular season meeting with Tattnall was played at the end of spring break on a Saturday morning after the Knights had played a doubleheader on Friday.

Shortstop Evan Boyd said "They really didn't beat us that bad. We just kind of laid down. It was kind of early morning. I don't think anybody was ready to play but they beat us fair and square."

Rod Murray said "This is a truer test. Both teams are rested and certainly a lot more comfortable. We are excited."

Game one is Friday at 4:00 p.m.  at Deerfield-Windsor and game two is Saturday at noon.

In Class A, Westwood plays Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Flint River and game two is Saturday at noon in Woodbury.
