Governor accepts Sutton's resignation

Valdosta - Governor Sonny Perdue has accepted the resignation of another Alapaha Judicial Circuit Judge.

Juvenile and State Court Judge Berrien Sutton resigned amid pressure from the Judicial Qualifications Commission.

Last year they charged him with seven misconduct violations from authorizing illegal spending to interfering with cases.

In may he announced his resignation, effective June 30th.

The Judicial Nomination Committee will now begin searching for a replacement to fill his unexpired term.
