Camilla - The Westwood High girls track program has won three state titles in the last four years.
One of the leaders for the Lady Wildcats team has been Madison Lamar.
Lamar today signed a track scholarship with the University of Georgia.
Madison won five state titles in the pole vault and has the GISA girls record for all classifcations at 11'4".
Even though she comes from a small school in south Geogia, Madison believes she can compete at the Division I level.
Madison's personal best is 12'4" and she believes it will not be long before she clears 13 feet.
That will put her among the best in the Southeastern Conference.
Madison Lamar said "It is definitely going to be different going from the kids we on our team which is about 20 and all the small meets we go to and not a lot of competition to huge competition with some of the best vaulters and track athletes in the nation."
Westwood track coach Earl Ford said "It is exciting. She deserves it. She has worked hard. She has had tremendous dedication and support from her parents and family."
Madison Lamar has trained with Deerfield-Windsor's John Smith with pole vault coach Charlie Polhamus in Fitzgerald.
Smtih signed a track scholarship with Georgia earlier this month.
