Military dog died of heat stroke

Albany - We now know a Military dog found dead inside a Marine Police vehicle in Albany died of heat stroke. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death, but a veterinarian at Ft. Benning determined through a necropsy that Dax had a heat stroke.

Dax was stationed at MCLB for almost three years and was trained in explosive detection and patrolling. The working dog branch out at MCLB has now conducted safety training to review procedure and is undergoing veterinary training to ensure the safety of dogs.
