Phoenix, Az. - The three time national champion Darton College golf team has to play catch up to win a fourth title.

Darton shot a 294 in Tuesday's first round and is fifth place.

The Cavaliers are 19 shots behind Tyler, Texas Community College.

Tyler led by Blaine Weiterman's 62 shot a 275.

Darton's low scorer was Matt Smith who is tied for seventh at 71.

Chesley Gunn and Jin Woo Chung both shot 74 and Evan Hanna shot a 75.

Coleman Calhoun had a 77.
