SCA football hoping for Rock-Solid season

May 20, 2008

Albany -- The Sherwood Christian Academy football team is on the field this week, as they hold their spring practice.

The Eagles struggled through last season, finishing with just one win. They haven't had a winning record this decade.

SCA will be facing all new competition this season, as they move from the AAA to AA level in the GISA.

Head coach Rock Knapp spent his first season on the sidelines with Sherwood last year, and is now going through spring practice for the first time with the team.

Coach Knapp says they spent the last eight months working on strength, and will now have a much stronger base for the season.

"I feel like this year, with the increase in strength, now the emphasis is on fundamentals, and it's a much better foundations for being able to build offenses and defenses," says Knapp.

Knapp says the change in classification moves the Eagles into one of the toughest regions in the state.

"It's going to be a tough year," says Knapp.  "We've got a lot to prove, and it all begins right now."
