Albany -- Georgia State Patrol is investigating an accident involving a Valdosta Police Officer.

That officer was traveling South on Bemiss Road in Valdosta Friday night when the driver of a Mazda pick-up traveling North tried to make a left turn on to Skipper Bridge Road.

That driver failed to yield.

A 17-year-old passenger in the pick-up was taken to South Georgia Medical Center, but neither the driver or the police officer sustained serious injuries.

As part of standard procedure, the officer will be screened for drug usage.
