Albany-- More than a dozen students in danger of not finishing high school were honored for working hard to earn their diplomas.

On Thursday night, the South Georgia Regional Achievement Center held its first graduation ceremony for 13 students who worked to catch up, and walk with their high school graduating class.

Without attending the Performance Learning Center, they may not have graduated on time.

"These students have to apply to come, and be accepted and attend, and it's not an easy thing to do," said Lynn Borders, Executive Director of Communities in Schools.

"From my situation of having two kids it was a great program to get into to catch up on my work and to have time for my kids,"said Jessica Whitfield a Graduating Senior.

Seven honorees were also recognized at as most improved.

The ceremony was sponsored by Communities In Schools of Albany and Dougherty County.
