Valdosta police search for robbers

May 15, 2008

Valdosta - Valdosta police are on the look out for a man they say fired shots at a woman he tried to rob.

They say a man on a bike rode up to the Sav-a-lot on Madison Highway just before 10:00 Thursday morning, pointed a handgun at a store employee and demanded money.

When the woman ran, he shot at her then rode off.

Luckily, no one was injured and police hope security video caught the robber on tape.

"I can tell you that we've retrieved video from other businesses. I don't want to go into all the details because its an active investigation but we are looking for the offender and we think we might have someone who matches him on video," says Cmdr. Brian Childress with the Valdosta Police.

Police and Lowndes County deputies are still searching for the robber. They say he is to be considered armed and dangerous.

That's not the only crook Valdosta police are searching for.

They say two men in their late teens or early twenties robbed a man as he worked on his property on Jones Road 9:30 Thursday morning.

Both had guns.  "They actually came inside the residence, demanded items from him, which they took. Both individuals displayed handguns. No one was injured. They left on foot from the scene," says Lt. Bobbi McGraw.

If you know anything about either of those crimes, Valdosta Police want you to call their crime tip line at 229-293-3091.
