Albany- A measure signed by Governor Sonny Perdue bans the sale of marijuana flavored candy products to kids. South Georgia law enforcement officers say it gives them another tool to fight teen drug use.
The Governor signed a measure into law that bans the sale of "marijuana flavored products" to anyone under 18, and calls for a fine of up to $500 for each offense.
It targets businesses that sell the candies with drug-inspired names such as "Kronic Kandy" and "Pot Suckers." Lee County Sheriff's deputies say it helps eliminate another gateway that promotes drug use.
"We want to eliminate as many gateways as we can when they're growing up to prevent children growing up to be adults using narcotics," said Chief Dennis Parker, Lee County.
