Valdosta- The Valdosta fire department says the community has some big boots to fill.

The annual "Give Burns the Boot drive" starts Thursday.

Firefighters will be in front of Walmart, Winn Dixie and the Harvey's on Bemiss Road. They will collect money for the burn foundation.

The money will help with treatment for young burn victims.

"When a child goes there for treatment, we help offset some of the cost for that treatment and we also provide lodging for parents while they are there tending to their child," says Chief J.D. Rice.

The firefighters will be collecting money through Saturday.

They hope to collect $10,000.
